BEAUTIFUL DECAY

An ongoing practice of letting go of what felt precious in order to make room for what wants to grow next. Much like a street tagger carelessly disregarding someone else's property or covering up the work that came before them, I spray painted big, bold flowers over my own "finished" work, turning the impulse to protect what's precious into a willingness to lose it. Like anything that grows in a sidewalk crack only to fade, the work is less concerned with permanence than with the moment. An affirmation that nothing, including the self, is ever really done evolving.
