Based on a personal experience I had with a homeless man in Venice, California, I created this random act of kindness with no outside funding for materials or media space. Project Hello was designed to build awareness and compassion for the homeless community. The result was more than 3,500 signs distributed throughout 28 countries, a comprehensive website with over 700 photographs, 15 national PSAs, a traveling photo exhibition, worldwide media coverage in over 50 publications, and the 2004 Dove Award–the highest accord for socially responsible advertising from the Advertising Community Together (ACT).
